FAIRFIELD CELEBRATES ARBOR DAY
TOWN AWARDED "TREE CITY USA" FOR 20TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

On Friday, April 25, 2008, Fairfield celebrated Arbor Day and received an award from the Arbor Day Foundation recognizing the 20th anniversary of Fairfield being awarded "Tree City USA". "Tree City USA" is a national program sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. Fairfield is one of only 13 communities in Connecticut to receive the honor of being recognized as a "Tree City." Both Fairfield and Stamford have received this award for the past twenty years, more than any other community in the state.

First Selectman Flatto said, "Fairfield prides itself on being recognized as "Tree City USA" because we care deeply about our environment, quality of life and community character. It is a testament to the tremendous efforts of our residents, volunteer committees and town officials that Fairfield is proudly celebrating this special anniversary."
